Communications Philosophy

I approach communications the same way a drill sergeant handles recruits. I tear down the material to its most basic level, beat out all pretense and ego and then rebuild the information to make it lean and effective. Whether I´m launching a new product, announcing company earnings or managing a PR crisis, I believe communicating well begins with clarity. I advise clients to shed the corporate-speak, lose the jargon and evict any self-congratulatory language and convey meaningful information in a way that compels the target audience to take action.

W ROBERT PADGETT

Padgett PR owner and founder W Robert Padgett is a persuasive communicator who combines a background in news writing with 20 years of public relations experience advising clients in a variety of industries, including Retail, eCommerce, Travel Services, Healthcare and Public Affairs.

Robert began his career as a newspaper reporter and approaches his work on behalf of clients with the same curiosity that he employed to extract information and produce front-page copy. Most recently, Robert directed communications for nationwide specialty retailer Brookstone, where his timely PR campaigns helped the company launch a number of new products that fed its bottomline growth. Robert also served as Brookstone´s primary spokesperson and appeared on national TV shows such as Extra, The View, Fox & Friends and The History Channel´s Modern Marvels.

Before his tenure at Brookstone, Robert ran communications for eCommerce startup Priceline WebHouse Club and managed media relations for Pfizer Inc. His agency work includes launching products and services and managing crisis communications at BursonMarsteller in New York and The Dolphin Group in Los Angeles and Sacramento, Calif.

Robert has written freelance articles for biotech company Millennium Pharmaceuticals, PBS station WGBH-TV and for the Boston Globe and Sacramento Bee newspapers. He is a member of the Publicity Club of New England and is active in the Boston social media network.
